+ In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O God, our heavenly Father, we have come into thy presence to assist, with all thy Church, in offering to thee the Holy Sacrifice of the Body and Blood of thy Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, that same Sacrifice offered at the Last Supper and upon the altar of the cross.
We offer it to the praise and glory of thy Divine Majesty, as a memorial of the death and passion of thy Son, in thanksgiving for all the blessings thou hast bestowed upon thy Church, and upon us, unworthy though we be.
We offer this Holy Sacrifice to obtain the blessings we desire of thee for our families, for those we love, for the sick and anxious, for the tempted and the fallen, for our souls' needs, and for the faithful departed.
Bless the priest who will celebrate this Holy Mystery. Accept our worship. Bless all who are offering this Holy Sacrifice wherever they may be.
Receive our prayers for all thy holy Church, in heaven, in paradise, and on earth. Convert those who do not believe; heal the anguish of the world, and grant us thy peace.
O God, accept our prayers throughout this holy service for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
This prayer of preparation was included in the Bathurst "Red Book" published in 1942 by the Rt Rev'd Arnold Lomas Wilde who was Bishop of Bathurst from 1937 to 1958. The photograph is of Father Tony Iball celebrating Mass in the Patmos House Chapel.
