Orthodox Evangelism

Fr Maximus Urbanowicz preaching the Gospel

I believe that the Lord is raising up lots of anointed evangelists from across the Christian traditions to reach our secular world with the Gospel. It is important to state this clearly, because there are still Christians in highly liturgical churches who are very snooty about the kind of preaching evangelism that brings new people to the Lord.

Now, I know that we should be reaching out to those around us with the love of Christ and with great patience, drawing them into our parish life, without a great deal of fuss. I would hope that we're all doing that all the time. And I also know that special sensitivity and patience are needed when trying to reach others who have deep, genuine questions and anxieties about belief, or whose lives have been crushed by injustice or tragedy. But none of that negates the New Testament teaching that God has given particular people the "ministry gift" of being evangelists in a special way.

So, today I am sharing with you a wonderful evangelistic ministry of the Orthodox Church. Gospel To All Nations (GTAN), led by Fr. Maximus Urbanowicz, is working to fulfill the Great Commission by taking the Good News of Jesus Christ and his Church to all the nations of the world. As part of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), Gospel To All Nations actively works for the salvation of souls, equipping the faithful, and building the Church of Jesus Christ through preaching campaigns, church conferences, literature distribution, and mass media.

Here is a short glimpse into the Orthodox, evangelistic mission of Gospel To All Nations and the impact they are having throughout the world today. To find out more, go to the GTAN website.
